Being a student at Liberty University, the world's largest Christian school, I have been poured into by the people here. Studying here has grown me as journalist and as a Christian, it is by far my favorite place on earth.
Coming from the hustle and bustle of Fairfield County in the southernmost part of Connecticut, I have been at peace down here is the blue ridge mountains. Instead of seeing pavement beneath me and skyscrapers above I now look down to find budding flowers and above to see the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
If there is anyplace that you think can show God's marvelous creation powers better than Lynchburg, I would love too argue with you.
Anyways, on to the point.
I have been reading through the book of Psalm recently and have come across one of my new favorite verses.
Psalm 46 verse 10
"Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth."
Can I just say... WOW
God has called me to be still. In the midst of all my crazy journalism work and the hurting people in the broken world around me God has commanded me to trust that He will be exalted in it all and all that I have to do is simply be still.
Now, I admit, I do not know how God is going to be exalted in this world. There is so much persecution, sickness, pain and downright awful things. However, every night when I see the sun set over Lynchburg and over the mountains in the distance, I am reminded that God is bigger than all of that, and even more surprising that that, He is beautiful. How can I not trust such an all powerful but yet still loving God? Also, every time I see the sunset at night, although it may be dark for the quite a while, I look forward to the spectacular sunrise that I know will come in the morning.
Psalm 30:5
"For His anger lasts only for a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."
